Hi, I’m Jordan Ralph, an engineer turned recruiter turned founder of Blinker.
This whole journey started not with a grand idea, but with a moment. I was driving one day, noticed a driver casually driving down the road with their indicator on, and wished there was a way to let the driver know. Flashing my headlights wasn't enough. Yelling from the window? I'm too shy for that. That moment stuck with me... For years... Until I thought, you know what, what if there was a way?
From there, the idea spiralled. What if we could communicate with other drivers through their number plates, send a heads-up, a thank you, even a warning? That idea became Blinker.
I’m not your typical tech founder. My background is in engineering and recruitment. I once designed control systems for airports, then spent over a decade helping property developers find the right people to build better cities. But what both roles taught me is how powerful the right connection can be, whether it’s between people, or between people and technology.
Blinker exists because I couldn’t stop thinking about the gap between those moments on the road and our ability to act on them, and those moments kept coming up as I drove around. The big one? A pipe burst on my road and the State Emergency Service were unable to contact the drivers of vehicles parked along the road causing delays. That's when I thought that there is a communications gap here that can be solved. Blinker is part communication tool, part safety net, and, if we build it right, a road communication revolution.
I’m building this in public, with a lean budget, a growing waitlist, and a small army of amazing early supporters. I believe everyday drivers deserve tools that make them feel safer, more empowered, and more connected, without needing to know each other’s phone numbers or social handles.
There’s a long way to go, and I’m learning every day. But I hope that by sharing not just what Blinker is, but why it matters to me personally, you’ll feel more connected to this journey - and maybe even inspired to be part of it.
